Sage Dental of Fort Myers

Very happy with Sage dental! Had my teeth cleaned by Tania today and it was a great experience (and this is coming from a guy who has a lot of anxiety in a dental chair). Highly recommend.

I found Sage Dental to be another corporate dental practice that seems to prioritize selling treatment plans over patient care. After what I felt was a rushed and inadequate exam, I was told I needed a deep cleaning. When I asked for a regular cleaning instead, they refused, so I decided to leave without having any treatment done. The following week, I visited a privately owned dental office, that I was referred to by the VA, without mentioning my experience at Sage. The dentist performed a much more thorough exam and determined that all I needed was a routine cleaning. The staff was friendly, the office was spotless, and I felt they genuinely had my best interests in mind. If you're tired of feeling pressured into unnecessary treatments at large corporate dental offices, I recommend considering a privately owned practice. In my experience, the level of care and personal attention was much better. Before Sage Dental acquired Horizon, it was a great place to receive dental care. Unfortunately, in my opinion, that is no longer the case.

Came in for my regular cleaning and they attempted to charge me $300 for additional cleaning. When I told them I was only interested in the regular cleaning and not a deep cleaning they told me they couldn’t do it. I take good care of my teeth. I get cleanings every 6 months. I did have some plaque near my bottom gums but not enough to warrant an extra $300 in cleaning. The technician commented how good my teeth were and it was just that one area. I came in for a basic cleaning and left with nothing.

I had an extremely disappointing experience at Sage Dental and would not recommend this office to anyone with dental insurance. Before my appointment, I verified that my insurance provides 100% coverage for routine preventive services, including exams, checkups, and cleanings. This was my first dental visit in years, so I expected to receive straightforward information about what was covered and any legitimate treatment recommendations. Instead, I felt pressured throughout my visit to approve additional services that were presented as necessary. I was told I could not receive a standard cleaning because my gums were "infected" and that I required a more expensive cleaning that would cost me an additional $168 out of pocket. I was also told that the alleged infection could not be treated for another 30 days, requiring additional appointments. The entire process felt confusing and misleading. I was repeatedly asked to sign documents for services I declined. My understanding was that I was signing acknowledgments related to discussions we had with the dental staff and assistant manager, including statements that certain costs would be adjusted because my insurance would not fully cover them. However, when I went to check out, staff attempted to bill me for services I had already declined, claiming that my signature authorized them. The front desk staff made me feel embarrassed and pressured to pay charges that I did not believe I owed. Instead of receiving clear explanations, I felt as though I was being treated like I was unwilling to pay for necessary care when my concern was simply being billed for services I never intended to authorize. To make matters worse, I am now receiving bills for approximately $400 in additional charges that I do not believe I approved. Patients deserve transparency regarding treatment recommendations, insurance coverage, and financial responsibility. My experience left me feeling misled, pressured, and distrustful of the billing practices at this office.

I had a great experience at Sage Dental. The staff was very gentle, kind, and made me feel comfortable the entire visit. The dentist was so skilled that I didn’t even feel the Novocaine injection at all. Everyone was professional, caring, and did an excellent job. I highly recommend Sage Dental to anyone looking for a comfortable dental experience.

The staff up front & back were very nice. I had been clear I only wanted an exam cleaning & X-rays which were covered by my health plan. As the visit went on they gave me a list of procedures they thought I needed & I said I would think about it. They started to do a cleaning but did only half of my mouth. Strange, right? When I checked out they informed me I owed a large balance & that I did not get a preventative cleaning, so it was not covered by my plan! I was clear when I scheduled the appt & when I arrived that I needed to make sure everything would be covered! Communication was NOT clear & it was handled very unprofessional. It was obvious they were upcoding to get the highest reimbursement. I will not go back & I will inform my Medicare Advantage plan that they should not be a participating provider!

Tania at Sage Dental is the best dental hygienist I've ever had at Sage Dental, Fort Myers. She is incredibly gentle while also being thorough and highly effective. It is clear just how much she genuinely cares. She takes the time to clearly explain everything she's doing in a way that is easy to understand, and she gives you tips that help you improve your dental hygiene at home. Tania makes sure you're comfortable, informed, and confident every step of the way. Her kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail are all top notch! .Sage Dental is lucky to have her—she is an incredible dental hygienist and deserves recognition.
